Hey there. I’m Krista Timeus Cerezo, a Guatemalan writer based in Barcelona. My first novel, A LAND LIKE SPRING, is the hopeful story of a privileged woman’s journey to forge her own identity in a society divided by tradition and class conflict. It’s set in 1980s Guatemala and is loosely based on a true family story.
My short fiction is populated by people living in exile, whether by choice or circumstance. Characters are haunted, not only by the places and people they’ve left behind, but also by past versions of themselves. Displaced, they ask themselves, How did we get here? Where do we belong? And how do we build a new home in a world that is changing around us faster than we can change ourselves? My stories have appeared in Puerto del Sol, On the Run Magazine, and AGNI.
